Westmead Residential Care Home in Droitwich
With a devoted and long-serving team, many of whom have worked here for years, Westmead has a warm, homely, extended family feel.
Westmead provides residential care and care for older people living with dementia, as well as adult respite breaks. These flexible short stay and long-term breaks give caregivers in our community the chance to take a well-earned rest.
What are the gardens like at our care home?
The gardens are a big focus. Our residents love relaxing in the summer house, growing vegetables in the greenhouse, and planting wildflowers. It's always busy. We also have sensory planting in our accessible raised beds, known to have soothing qualities, as well as aiding reminiscence for our residents living with dementia.
The dining room has a view of the garden. Our residents can see wildlife while enjoying delicious homecooked meals.
A care team with such experience
With a highly experienced and dedicated team at Westmead, we are like a big family. Many of the staff have worked at the home for over a decade and some over 15 years.
They include Brenda, who was recently shortlisted for a Worcestershire Health and Social Care Award for being a "ray of sunshine", who is utterly devoted to Westmead. Her nomination highlighted how she spends many extra hours of her time doing things to bring the resident's joy. From planting spring bulbs to taking them on a ''virtual'' trip to somewhere they've always wanted to visit via Google Earth, our residents' smiles say it all.
Like Brenda, deputy manager Taymar has been with us for over 15 years, as has our administrator.
As reflected in the CQC rating, our team at Westmead is exceptional, achieving ''Good'' in every area of the latest report.
Our excellent care home activities
Kate, our activities coordinator, recently received two awards at the Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards. She received the Care Hero Award and the Outstanding Contribution to Health and Social Care in Worcestershire Award.
Kate enriches residents lives and organises meaningful activities and experiences for her residents (see our stories below). Kate and the residents have good relationships with a childrens' nursery in Droitwich Spa. Together the different generations take part in fun projects. The resdients also enjoy regualr pamper sessions.
Our care home also has a hair salon, where a mobile hairdresser comes every week to pamper the residents. We also have fantastic links with local church groups.
Westmead is also within walking distance of the Droitwich Spa town centre, with its parks and cafés.
Our care home also has many comfortable communal areas where residents can socialise and enjoy each other's company.
More on the types of care services we provide at Westmead
As well as providing residential care, we also offer dementia care in Droitwich and carer support with our adult respite care breaks.
Our respite care breaks can be both short term (a week) or longer. The respite services are flexible to your needs. So, if you are a caregiver looking after an ageing or frail relative at home or caring for an elderly parent living with dementia or age-related conditions, we are here.
We offer planned respite if you want to book a holiday or a temporary break from caring, with the peace of mind your loved one is being cared for. There's also emergency respite for the things you can't plan for. Depending on your needs, we can offer convalescence care if you need support following a spell in hospital.
Whether you are joining us for residential or dementia care, or respite services, everyone at Westmead is welcome to participate in a range of daily activities, which our team plan around your hobbies and interests. These can range from helping out in the garden, enjoying some delicious home-baked treats, or participating in arts and crafts.
Pricing information
It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for this in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions.
Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2024 weekly care fees for residential care start from £997 but may be in the region of 30% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.
*If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support, your weekly fee could be higher.
Visit our Paying for Care page for information on how to pay for care at Westmead Residential Care Home.
