We embrace the great outdoors at Pitcairn Lodge - our beautiful residential and nursing care home in Aberdeen. We are passionate about making Pitcairn Lodge a homely and welcoming place to live, enjoying spaces they always have - like gardens.

That's why we have two gardens, one for residents with nursing needs and one for residents in our dementia suite. Our residents get great pleasure from relaxing in the idyllic gardens during the warmer weather.

In the dementia garden, we have decking, seasonal plants and a bus stop donated by the local council. Our outdoor areas are great for relaxing or for residents who enjoy gardening to continue their gardening activities.

Firstly, mealtimes are a real highlight for our residents. We all love the variety of traditional Scottish fayre, including haggis, neeps and tatties, as well as stovies to Aberdeen’s famous haddock. 

Secondly, our care home activities are also an important part of life in the at Pitcairn Lodge Care Home. From arts club to community connections, we have a vibrant activities programme on offer. Wonderful highlights include:

• Visiting a nearby playgroup to spend time with young children as part of 'The Intergenerational Program'
• Themed afternoons - including ladies afternoon teas and gents social afternoons
• Day trips and live entertainers
• Animal therapy, pet therapy and gardening clubs
• And so much more!

And finally, we are proud of our wonderful facilities which enables our residents to live well. 

For example our dementia care suite has a private dining area. We specifically designed this area for residents and their loved ones to have family gatherings - like they have always enjoyed. It provides a private environment for these gatherings. We also use this area for the ladies’ afternoon teas and the gents’ social activity sessions that we organise.

Pitcairn Lodge also features a reminiscence lounge in the suite where we care for our residents with more advanced nursing needs. Items of memorabilia that capture the nostalgia of years gone by fill this room and support our one-to-one activities.
